Established in 1962, Maanrakennus Alam\u00e4ki is a family business with solid expertise in factory services and construction of infrastructure. We employ 80 experienced and highly skilled professionals. As testament to our expertise and the high quality of our services, we have been granted the ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates and a RALA Certificate of Competence.<\/p>\n
After buying a motor grader from his former employer in 1962, Pentti Alam\u00e4ki began operations as a sole trader under the name \u2018Tornion Kone\u2019, which became Maansiirtoliike Pentti Alam\u00e4ki in the early 1970s. The company operated solely as an earthmoving outfit until 1984, when its operations expanded to cover earthworks operations, industrial services, tarmac removal, and clearing of thickets. The company has completed roadwork operations all over Finland, from its southernmost tip, Hanko, to Utsjoki, in the far north. The company was also involved in the Kostomuksha project in the Soviet Union from 1974 until 1985 and carried out work for the Swedish Road Administration in the 1980s. In 1984, the company signed its first contract with Outokumpu Oy, for work related to the transfer of chromium. When the company was passed on to the next generation, in 1993, it changed its name to Maanrakennus Alam\u00e4ki Oy.<\/p>\n
Today, the industrial services provided by the company involve primarily the transport of recycled and rolled steel and the transfer of electric arc furnaces, AOD converters, and ladles. We tailor our industrial services to the client’s requirements, while developing our activities in collaboration with the client. Construction companies and industrial facilities figure among our clients. This diversified company has partnerships in place with around 40 clients, but the traditional earthworks services still play a key role in the operations.<\/p>\n
The company’s current premises have been at F\u00e4rim\u00e4enkatu 4, in Tornio\u2019s Torppi industrial district, since spring 2007, when the company expanded into property rental services. Besides Maanrakennus Alam\u00e4ki Oy’s operations, the premises house Itella and A-Katsastus as tenants. The company’s rental business expanded further in spring 2011, when work on a new property was completed and Ahlsell Oy relocated to these new premises.
